Prost Bavaria! (Dev’s visit, Oktoberfest, hiking)

Well, I didn’t quite manage to make it all the way to October in the last post. October was a good month; Dev and Kristy came to visit, Oktoberfest was on, and the weather was gorgeous so that I managed to get one last hike in before winter.

Highlights of Dev’s visit and Oktoberfest:

Crazy-big lego tower we saw downtown:

Dev and a friendly Danish guy in a Bierkrug-holding competition. Concentrate….

….and victory! Although Kristy looks more like she’s laughing at rather than with him ;)

Prost!

And everyone is grateful when they don’t end up like this guy:

Actually Dev and I’s pick-up drinking team had an ultimate problem, and there was a little ultimate going on parallel to Oktoberfest at a beautiful artificial beach just outside of Munich. Dev was even in the final. If you look closely he stopped so fast he created a mini sand-storm.

As I mentioned above, I also had the chance for one last fall hike in the Alps. I’m not sure what the real name of the place was anymore, but I know I repeatedly butchered the name so badly it became a running joke for the entire hike and even the week afterwards. OK, after a little googling I did find the real name (Vorderkaiserfeldenhütte) whereas I was saying Vorderkäsefeldenhütte. Looks the same you might say? Unfortunately I was saying “in front of the cheese hut” instead of the name of the mountain. Even four years in it’s possible to get things very, very wrong :)
